A summer experience that empowers students to explore, build, and dream big.
This is more than a summer coding program — it’s a space for young innovators to discover what excites them, build real-world skills, and connect with a like-minded community.
In a world increasingly shaped by technology, helping students understand how things work — and giving them the tools to create — is one of the most powerful gifts we can offer. Our two-week, full-day summer program is designed to introduce rising 6th–12th graders to the world of computer science and robotics in a way that’s hands-on, creative, and deeply engaging.
Whether your child is curious about becoming an engineer, dreams of building their own app, or just wants to try something new, this program offers an exciting and supportive environment to explore those interests. Along the way, they’ll gain confidence, make new friends, and connect with a larger tech-minded community right here in Howard County.
We’ve built this program around three powerful pillars:
1. Learn to Code with Python
Students will learn how to program using Python, one of the most popular and versatile programming languages used by real-world developers, data scientists, and engineers. No experience is required — we’ll guide them through every step with fun, interactive lessons and real coding projects.
They’ll learn:
- The basics of programming — like variables, loops, conditionals, and functions
- How to break down problems and build clean, logical solutions
- Common design patterns that professional coders use every day
- How to create and present a final capstone project that shows off their new skills
2. Build & Problem-Solve with LEGO Robotics
At the same time, students will get hands-on with LEGO robotics, coding and engineering their own robot to tackle real-world challenges. Working in teams, they’ll learn to think like engineers and collaborate like innovators.
They’ll:
- Build and program LEGO robots to complete tasks
- Develop engineering and troubleshooting skills
- Tackle a real-world problem as a group — and build a robot-based solution
- Present their robot and team project at the end of the program
This experience also builds foundational skills for students who may be interested in joining FIRST LEGO League (FLL) in the future — giving them early exposure to robotics, teamwork, and design challenges similar to what they’d encounter in FLL competitions.
3. Connect with Tech Leaders in Our Community
We’re excited to welcome guest speakers from Maryland’s local tech community throughout the program. Students will hear from real software engineers, designers, data analysts, and other professionals working in the tech world today.
These talks are designed to:
- Inspire students with stories of how others got started in tech
- Show the wide range of career paths available in engineering and computer science
- Provide early exposure to professional networking and mentorship
This program is not just about learning — it’s about belonging. We want each student to feel part of something bigger: a community of creators, thinkers, and builders.
Students will walk away with real coding and robotics experience, tangible projects, new friendships, and a clearer sense of whether a future in tech or engineering might be right for them.
Spots are limited -- reserve your student's place today and give them a summer that could spark a lifelong passion!
